Welcome George and Fani to our group!

We are happy to welcome two PhD students in our group. George Tzortzinis and Fani Derveni join our group in September 2017. George will work on the determination of residual load capacities in steel girder bridges under web end corrosion and Fani will study the stability of podium-type building structures.

Panos presents findings on the Progressive collapse response investigation of a 3D 20-story steel framed prototype building and Kshitij on the Imperfection sensitivity of tall wind turbine thin steel cylindrical shell towers. Dr. Gerasimidis made a presentation On the definition of resilience.

Dr. Gerasimidis awarded the Greek Diaspora Fellowship

Professor Symeon Gerasimidis from the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst has been selected by The Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program to travel to Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece and collaborate with Professor Anastasios Sextos of that university’s Civil Engineering Department on a variety of challenging projects.
